Increasing Minority Ph.D. Graduates in Chemical, Civil and Environmental, and Mechanical EngineeringQualified Chemical, Civil and Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering graduate students can receive significant financial support by participating in the Sloan Foundation's Minority Ph.D. Program at the University of South Carolina. Students nominated by the participating faculty can receive a supplemental award from the Sloan Foundation that is complemented by an graduate assistantship from the University of South Carolina. Sloan Minority Ph.D. students are also eligible for additional fellowships or financial aid. The financial support for each student is significant. The intent is to enable you to pursue your Ph.D. now, instead of trying to save up for it while working. Student qualifications include: (1) US citizenship, (2) member of an underrepresented group (African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans) and (3) acceptance into the chemical, civil and environmental, and mechanical engineering graduate program. Ph.D. applicants are preferred, but we can support a Master of Science student whose ultimate goal is Ph.D. As you know, the most important component of your Ph.D. program is the research and education you get by working side-by-side a faculty mentor. We have a technically diverse and highly qualified team of Sloan Minority Ph.D. program faculty that wants to work with you. Please contact any of us for more information:
