Transfer Policy

Change of School or Campus from within the USC System

All USC students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on at least 15 hours earned at USC. The earned hours must include a four semester hour calculus course equivalent to MATH 141 with a grade of “C” or better. The majority of earned USC hours must be creditable to an engineering or computer science degree.

All transfer students must have a four semester hour calculus course (equivalent to MATH 141) with a grade of “C” or better and have completed 30 semester hours or more of college work with a minimum GPA of 2.75. The majority of the transfer hours must be creditable to an engineering or computer science degree.

An international student is defined as a student who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. If academic credentials are from U.S. schools, follow freshman or transfer requirements. If academic credentials are from another country, follow requirements listed below.

550 TOEFL (if English is not the student’s native language) and a 2.5 U.S. equivalent GPA. 1000 SAT total minimum (SAT R1100; 23 ACT composite if taken before 10/89, 24 if taken 10/89 or later).

The chart below lists Technical College courses and their USC equivalents. The third column lists which program requires the course specifically or where the course can fit in any program. Students at Technical Colleges should consult the Pre-Engineering Advisor at their school for further details. All students transferring from Technical Colleges must have 30 degree applicable hours, a 2.75 cumulative gpa, and a C or higher in MAT 140.
