CEC announces the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of our new Career Center

All are invited to attend the opening ceremonies of the new Career Center located in Swearingen. The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2007, from 4 to 6 pm at the new Career Center location.

Meeting the needs of the College’s students and providing them with career tools and opportunities for their future, the Career Center will give engineering and computing students the career help they need right in their own College where they need it the most. Services offered at the new Career Center location include help with career research, job search preparation, internship and co-op guidance, resumé and cover letter assistance, graduate school guidance, mock interview services, on campus interviews, employer information sessions and more.

“We are very excited to offer our students this comprehensive career center here at Swearingen. This is an important investment we have made and is another example of how our College is responding to the needs of our students. We will be providing the guidance our students need to compete successfully in the job market and secure engineering and computing positions with the highest of today’s entry-level salaries.” said Dr. Michael D. Amiridis, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing.

“In addition to offering the same services as the Career Center on the main University campus, the Career Center at Swearingen will be sponsoring Employer Information Sessions exclusively for engineering and computing students -- bringing employers to the students and giving the students the chance to speak with company representatives first-hand about internship, co-op and full-time positions.” added Tracy Powers, Director of Employer Relations.

A drop-in reception will take place immediately following the presentations and ribbon cutting of the Center. Local area engineering and computing-related employers will also be on-hand to show their support of the grand opening and introduce themselves to the College’s students.
