2007 Football Schedule (click image to download image of schedule poster) | ||
- Leon Gamble, #89, Junior, Electrical Engineering
- Jim Hutton, #35, Sophomore, Mechanical Engineering
- Lanard Stafford, #39, Senior, Electrical Engineering
Wide receiver Leon Gamble has attended USC since 2004, but did not join the team until he walked on the field in the spring of 2006. A junior from Georgetown, SC, where he also competed on his high school's baseball and track and field teams, the Department of Electrical Engineering is proud to call him one of their own.
Jim Hutton, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering, joined the team in the spring of 2006 as a walk-on player. Providing depth at the fullback position, Hutton graduated from Williamsburg Academy in Kingstree, SC and was the leading rusher in the SCISA All-Star Game as a fullblack and scored 21 touchdowns as a senior in high school earning all-state honors.
Having enrolled at USC in fall 2003, Lanard Stafford walked on the team in the spring of 2004. An outstanding student who was the Harold White GPA Award winner for the offense in the spring while studying electrical engineering, this incumbent in at the fullback position was rewarded with a scholarship prior to the start of the 2005 season. Stafford graduated from Carvers Bay High School in Hemingway, SC, where he earned scholar-athlete recognition, as well as all-zone and all-state honors as an offensive lineman, earned the Academic Excellence Award for the Georgetown school district, was a member of the National Honor Society, and had the highest cumulative grade point average of anyone in his class in both math and social studies -- all while finding time to also participate in community outreach programs. (He can also squat 590 pounds -- the top mark on the squad!)
CEC is "cocky" about our students and football players. Go CEC Gamecocks!
