Meet the New Face of Engineering and Computing:
Kaleigh Lindeman

Kaleigh Lindeman is a 19 year-old sophomore who has always loved math and science and knew she wanted to be an engineering major. She also has always had interests in medicine, but had never considered being a doctor.
Says Lindeman, "When I learned of USC’s new biomedical engineering program, I knew it’d be a great fit."
Lindeman originally became interested in USC because of its accelerated BS in engineering/IMBA program as well as the opportunities with the Honors College. She says that she loves the size of the program here, that USC is a big school, but she enjoys her small classes and the individual attention students receive from professors. Lindeman attributes many discussions with a professor to changing her career interests in her second semester. She now plans to go to medical school and hopes to do research at the School of Medicine next year.
Lindeman has recently been accepted to a study abroad program. For the spring semester she will be studying in Bangkok, Thailand, at Mahidol University International College and looks forward to the travel opportunities in the area. She chose this school because it offers programs in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Research, as well as Pre-Medicine, Health and Biomedical Science allowing her to continue to take classes in her major as she would here, but with Thai students. The school also encourages students to pursue research and internships.
"Many engineering students think that study abroad is not possible for them. Through my experience I hope to help my classmates in biomedical engineering understand that although it may require a little more effort, there are many study abroad programs for us, too."
Lindeman is a Coopers Scholar and has been on the Deans Honor List and Presidents Honor List.
