Professor awarded 2006 Michael J. Mungo Undergradate Teaching Award

Associate professor of civil and environmental engineering Dr. Charles E. Pierce received one of three Michael J. Mungo Undergraduate Teaching Awards for 2006.

The University of South Carolina Columbia campus presents four Michael J. Mungo awards annually to undergraduate faculty. Awards, which were established in 1992-1993, are presented each spring at the Spring General Faculty Meeting and are accompanied by a $2,500 award.

Nominees for the Michael J. Mungo Undergraduate Teaching Award are full-time tenured or tenure track faculty who teach undergraduate students. Nominations are made in written submitted to the Office of the Provost and are accepted from students, faculty, department chairs, and deans.

Awardees are chosen by committee consisting of faculty, two students (one from the Colleges of Science and Mathematics and Liberal Arts and one from the professional school and colleges), and chaired by a representative from the Office of the Provost. The Provost makes the final selection for the awards.
