Voglewede wins international award

Dr. Philip Voglewede, Assistant Professor in Mechancial Engineering, recently was awarded the Freudenstein/General Motors Young Investigators Award by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International. Voglewede was presented this prestigious award at the Annual ASME Design Engineering Technical / Computers and Information in Engineering Conference held September 4-7 in Las Vegas, NV.

The Freudenstein/General Motors Young Investigators Award was established in 1996 by ASME International to encourage young investigators in accomplishing high quality research. The award is aimed at a paper with significant original contribution to the theory of mechanisms and the potential to enhance the public good. One award is given biennially with an ASME Certificate and a cash value of one-thousand US Dollars.

Voglewede's paper entitled, "Novel Design of a Robotic Gripper Allowing for In-hand Manipulation," was chosen from the 1,223 papers at presented at the conference.
