Compilers Delayed
There were significant problems with our attempt to purchase the
Intel licenses, but after switching vendors we should be receiving
the correct licenses as soon as possible.
1.29.08 System Upgrade Complete
-Installation of latest Rocks Clustering Software, version 4.3
with CentOS base
-Installation of new open source scheduling software, PBS
-Expansion of disk space on headnode (home directories are now
/export/home on the entire cluster)
-Installation and configuring of latest Cisco-ofed Roll for
Infiniband
-Updated firmware of all IB cards
-Installed new Bio Roll that includes the following bio-informatics
packages: HMMER, NCBI BLAST, MpiBLAST, biopython, ClustalW, MrBayes,
T_Coffee, Emboss, Phylip, fasta, Glimmer, and CPAN
-Installation of Absoft Compiler and Star-CD
11.10.07 USC at SuperComputing '07 in Reno
Members of SC3 (Clemson, USC, MUSC, Hollings Marine Lab, and
Savannah River National Lab) showcased their research at the SC07
supercomputing conference. See

Seminars Hosted by SGI and IBM
SGI and IBM will be holding seminars Thursday and Friday,
respectively, to discuss several topics on products in high
performance computing.

Nick upgrade completed. The maintenance update included the
following:
Dell Roll Updates
- Updated Dell server package
- Fix to resolve NFS/IPMI port conflicts
Cisco Topspin IB updates
- Updated drivers and MVAPI libraries
Platform Roll Updates
- RHEL 4 U2 Kernel 2.6.9-22
- Additional functionality for cluster management
- Tool to dynamically add/remove rolls
- Ability to receive updates to OS and Rocks via rocks-update
