SNAP Server Back Online 7.16.08
The network storage device attached to NICK suffered two lost drives and after investigating I found that the disk controller was bad. The replacement storage server has been installed and configured. The new SNAP server, named Armory, is mounted on the headnode as well as all the compute nodes under /stuff.

ZIA has Awoken... 5.20.08
The college's new shared-memory machine, an SGI Altix 4700, is now up and operational.

Intel Compilers Delayed but Installed 3.17.08
There were significant problems with our attempt to purchase the Intel licenses, but after switching vendors we were able to get the compilers purchased and installed.

System Upgrade Complete 1.29.08
-Installation of latest Rocks Clustering Software, version 4.3 with CentOS base
-Installation of new open source scheduling software, PBS
-Expansion of disk space on headnode (home directories are now “/export/home” on the entire cluster)
-Installation and configuring of latest Cisco-ofed Roll for Infiniband
-Updated firmware of all IB cards
-Installed new Bio Roll that includes the following bio-informatics packages: HMMER, NCBI BLAST, MpiBLAST, biopython, ClustalW, MrBayes, T_Coffee, Emboss, Phylip, fasta, Glimmer, and CPAN
-Installation of Absoft Compiler and Star-CD

USC at SuperComputing '07 in Reno 11.10.07
Members of SC3 (Clemson, USC, MUSC, Hollings Marine Lab, and Savannah River National Lab) showcased their research at the SC07 supercomputing conference. See the SC3 website for more details.

Nick System Status

The headnode is up and operational. Nodes 2-28 and 2-5 are down due to hardware problems. They will return to service as soon as possible.

Optimus System Status

THe OPTIMUS rebuild has been postponed. If you need time on this system, please let me know. Nodes 35-64 are down for BIOS updates.
