The 76 node cluster was named after Nick Metropolis (1915-1999) for his contributions to math, science and computing. Metropolis was a mathematician, physicist, and computer scientist who was well known for his work in building the computers MANIAC I and MANIAC II in 1952 and 1957 respectively.

NICK is the most powerful cluster at the University of South Carolina.

02.09.16 - NICK Rebuild is Complete
The rebuild of NICK was completed today to upgrade the Intel Compilers roll and to install our new licensed version of Platform LSF queuing software.
