Electrical Engineering
Faculty Positions
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Carolina seeks to fill up to three tenure-track faculty openings, to begin in Fall 2007 or Spring 2008, at the rank of Assistant Professor. Exceptional candidates at higher ranks will also be considered.
Applicants must have:
- A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field prior to their start date
- Excellent capabilities for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Proven research capabilities, and strong potential for, and commitment to, establishing their own externally-funded research programs
- Expertise in one of the following areas that the department has targeted for growth -- photovoltaic materials and devices, RF circuit design, and sensors or audio electronics
The University has several major initiatives that will make this position attractive to outstanding candidates. USC’s research funding in 2006 exceeded $173 million. The EE department is a leader in that externally-funded research, and has internationally-recognized programs in power electronics and control systems, simulation environments, wide-band gap microelectronics/optoelectronics, and wireless communications. The new Research Campus, located adjacent to the Engineering College, will comprise five million square feet of research labs, offices, and retail facilities and that will become a center for innovation and job creation.
To apply, send an e-mail to search@engr.sc.edu, attaching a curriculum vitae and a statement of teaching and research interests.
Closing date for applications is May 31, 2007.
